Meet Our 2022 Summer Interns!

This past week we have had the honor and pleasure of welcoming 13 summer co-op and internship students!

It was a very competitive year, the most we have ever seen! We searched high and low, conducted many, many interviews with many candidates and I can truly say we are exceptionally lucky: this group is the most talented, diverse team we have ever onboarded for the summer program!

We are super stoked that you all have decided to join our team, and without further ado welcome Summer Crew 2022!!

Jon Carson, Research Associate Intern – Jon is a former police officer who led innovation and change and introduced Canada's only formalized mindfulness resiliency program for emergency services. Jon has attended many different training programs, most notably, the Google Search Inside yourself leadership institute and the University of Toronto Applied Mindfulness meditation certification, which focused on Emotional Intelligence, Empathy, and Leadership. He is also an international certified Crisis Intervention Trainer and has created models that help with De-escalation used by Police Organizations throughout North America. His unique communication style has led him to present and talk all over North America, culminating with his own Ted Talk.

Alissa Bennett, Research Associate Intern - Alissa has an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and a Social Service Work diploma. She is working on a graduate certificate in research. For the past 3 and a half years she has worked in the manufacturing industry.

Brianna Dos Santos , Research Associate Intern – Brianna is a research analyst student at Georgian with a background in psychology and sociology. She is a huge foodie and loves psychological or any other sort of philosophical debate. She is excited to be working alongside some talented folks.

Yolanda Emmans, Marketing Associate Intern – Yolanda’s passion for marketing led her to pursue a career in this field and she believes that creativity and written communication are an essential part of successful marketing. She is a huge go-getter who loves challenges and is excited to embark on this journey with the Hotspex team where she can add great value and continue learning.

Jacob Skrzypiec, Research Associate Intern – Jacob is a graduate of the Humber Research Analyst program. His background is in finance and project coordination and he is excited for my future at Hotspex. Outside of work, you can usually find him watching the Raptors game, eating at new restaurants in the city, or looking at cat videos online.

Divya Mathura, Project Manager Intern – Divya is a graduate from University of Toronto in Biology. She then went on to pursue the Research Analyst program in Humber College. A fun fact about Divya is she loves to cook and bake in her spare time!

Kelsea Rynberk, Research Associate Intern – Kelsea is excited to start working with Hotspex as a part of her placement for the Research Analyst program at Humber college. She has a psychology background and worked many years in sales before studying research analysis. In her free time, she loves learning to cook new recipes and going on hikes.

Zion Leatham, Research Associate Intern - Zion is a Master’s student at the University of Waterloo, where he specialized in Cognitive Neuroscience. His primary research interests are in digital-nudges, attention, and human-computer interaction. In his free time, he enjoys physical activity such as soccer, swimming and working out. He is looking forward to broadening his industry experience here at Hotspex and apply his behavioral science background to client projects!

Nick Hayman, Technology Associate Intern – Nick is currently a 2nd year computer science student at Carleton University. His interests include martial arts, golf, and anything computer related.

Morgan Brown, Research Associate Intern – Morgan is From Collingwood, Ontario, and is a student at Wilfrid Laurier University, currently completing a Bachelor's degree in Communications Studies, with a Concentration in Digital Media Studies, and a minor in Business. In her spare time she enjoys fitness, socializing with family and friends, and she is also a part of the WLU Varsity Cheerleading team.

Max Livingston, Research Associate Intern – Max is an undergraduate student at the University of Western Ontario pursuing a dual degree in International Relations and Business at the Ivey School. His interests include English, American and Russian Literature, Stakeholder Theory, Market Research (of course!) and Political Philosophy. Max is a returning intern; he is thrilled to be working at Hotspex again this summer and can't wait to see what the summer holds!

Matthew Hutchison, Research Associate Intern – Matthew is a third-year student studying at Ivey Business School. He is a huge sports fan, especially the NFL, MLB, and the NBA. He is really interested in the world of tech and the entertainment industry. Matthew is a returning intern, ready for his second year at Hotspex and this year he is excited to be able to hit the ground running and help the team provide meaningful insights to our clients.

Malak Seoudi, Research Associate Intern – Malak is originally from Algeria, studying in Marketing Research and Analysis and is super excited to start with Hotspex! She grew up with a cat and loves reading, travelling, and tea. She is also picking up the guitar after 10 years of not using it and love drawing as a hobby. Two things she misses the most from back home are Mediterranean fruits and the sea.

Andrew Leung, Project Manager Intern - Andrew is from Toronto, Ontario. He is an undergraduate student at Queen’s University pursuing a Commerce degree. His interests include marketing, finance, consulting, and market research. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and working out. He is excited to be a part of the Hotspex team and can’t wait to explore the many opportunities!
