| A Note from Carly; Director of Innovator Relations |

Dear Innovator,
As the leaves start to change color and the weather begins to cool, we're reminded that Fall is here and Winter is just around the corner. |
No matter what the temperature is outside though, the Hotspex team will be working harder than ever to bring you HOT surveys that help innovate your favorite brands and their products and services. So what's in store at Hotspex over the next few months? Here's a sneak peek of what you can expect to see in the last quarter of 2008:
- PLAY Hotspex surveys! Thanks to Flash technology and our team of ultra 'Spexy' graphic artists, Hotspex surveys are becoming more interactive than ever. Look for new 'game-like' activities in our surveys that allow you to 'play' while you innovate!
- New surveys are just around the corner from awesome brands like McDonald's, Wrigley, Colgate, Cox Communications, Coca Cola, and many others.
- An estimated 102,835 trees will be planted in the Peruvian rainforest as a result of YOUR participation in Hotspex surveys. (Remember, Hotspex plants a tree for every survey participated in on Hotspex.com.)

| Featured Story |
'Trip of a Lifetime' winner Janet is back from her vacation to Newfoundland, Canada. Of all of the places in North America to spend 'trip of a lifetime', why did Janet pick Newfoundland? Here's Janet's story:
| Why Newfoundland? My husband is from there but has lived in Yellowknife for almost 20 years. It had been about 8 years since he had been home. We got married a year ago so this was a great opportunity to meet the extended family that I had not yet met. |
We did a lot of sightseeing around St. John's and surrounding communities. We made several requisite trips to Signal Hill looking for icebergs, but sadly we didn't see any. They rolled in 2 weeks after we left! In addition, we made the journey to the most eastern point In North America which is located at Cape Spear 15 minutes outside of St. Johns. It was a strange feeling, almost like we were at the edge of the world!
Hotspex, thank you so much for this prize, I don't know if I can really convey to you everything that this trip meant to us. My husband and I have been trying to start a family for quite some time and were starting to think that it just may not happen for us. We were surprised to learn only a few short weeks after our return home that I was pregnant and that our baby was conceived in Newfoundland! This truly turned into the trip of a lifetime for us and it provided us with a gift that will last a lifetime.

Hotspex Innovators Provide the 'Plan'
Plan Canada (formally Foster Parents Plan), a charity that helps children and families in Africa, Asia, and Central and South America build brighter futures for themselves through community development, recently approached Hotspex with a unique challenge: help them understand the motivations behind what makes people donate to charity. 'Plan' had thought that it was emotional drivers that persuaded people to generously open their wallets, that seeing children in need was the best way to approach advertising. |
A test among Hotspex Innovators showed this to only be partially true. According to those who participated in the survey, it's just as important to know that the money being donated is actually going to where it's supposed to – directly to the cause. This epic finding led to a new campaign for 'Plan'. See the picture above for what you, Hotpsex Innovators, helped to inspire!

Takings Surveys + Drinking Beer = Trip to Las Vegas!
Congratulations to Andrew from Richmond Hill; Andrew is the winner of Hotspex's exclusive Viva Las Vegas contest! For simply participating in the recent survey on 'Beer', Andrew has won a flight and accommodation for he and two friends in sunny Las Vegas! When asking Andrew to comment on his win, here's what he had to say:
| This is nuts, I'm going to Vegas! My first born daughter shall be named 'Hotspex' after the good people who gave me this gift. I thank you. (It was either that or 'Molson'… and who names a kid Molson?) What happens in Vegas, goes on Facebook! |
Have fun Andrew! And stay tuned to hear all about Andrew's trip, which will be shared with Hotspex Innovators in a future newsletter edition.

Hotspex Staff hits the high seas for ARRR-guarbly the Most Entertaining Staff Party in Hotspex History
What do you get when you put over 50 Hotspex staff members on a boat with swords, bandanas, gold hoop earrings, fake tattoos, and Gilligan's Island theme music? Why a pirate themed end-of-summer staff party of course! The hard workers of Hotspex took half a day off on August 13th and pillaged their way down to Toronto's harbor front where they shook their 'booty' and ate like savages all afternoon long. For the record, no one was made to 'walk the plank', but Hotspex President Shane Skillen was ready and willing if the yacht company hosting the event would have permitted it. To sum the day up, the pirate boat cruise was mARRRRvolous!
